IGP Disu commends FID-IRT operatives for rescuing Adelabu’s sister, twin sons

Following the successful rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, relatives of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, in Ibadan, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has commended the courage, professionalism and effectiveness of operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) and other officers involved in the successful operation.

A statement making this known, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the IGP said the dedication and resilience of the operatives were instrumental in securing the safe release of the victims.

The statement disclosed that security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who fled during the operation.

It noted that preliminary intelligence indicates that some of the fleeing suspects may have escaped with gunshot wounds sustained during the rescue operation.

Explaining how the rescue of the victims was achieved, the statement said “they were freed during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Ibadan at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
