Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, on Monday endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office, calling on Igbos across the country to align with what he described as an “alliance for progress.”
Soludo made the declaration while speaking at the ongoing All Progressives Congress rally in Ebonyi State, where he expressed solidarity with the ruling party and praised President Tinubu’s leadership.
“I am endorsing President Tinubu for a second term. I stand in solidarity because progressives are working together. It is time for progressives to unite,” the governor said. While acknowledging the country’s current challenges, Soludo urged Nigerians to focus on the broader picture of national development.
“Yes, there are challenges, but today is not our own day,” he stated. The governor disclosed that the All Progressives Grand Alliance would soon meet to formally state its position, adding that progressive forces across the country would eventually come together in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“APGA will soon be meeting to make its own statement and thereafter, progressives all over Nigeria will meet under one umbrella to make sure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues the great work he is doing and the foundational structure he is trying to lay for Nigeria,” he said.
Addressing the South-East, Soludo urged Igbos to abandon what he termed the “politics of lamentation” and embrace a new direction centred on development and prosperity. “So, I join you in solidarity and say to my Igbo brothers and sisters, enough of the politics of lamentations. We must now move from the alliance of protests to the alliance for progress,” he said.
“We must unite as Igbos and join the alliance for prosperity for Ndi Igbo. We must not waste our votes again. We have to follow the moving train.” The endorsement comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
